Ingredients You Will Need:

  • All-Purpose Flour: The base of the cookie dough provides structure.
  • Unsalted Butter (softened): For a rich, smooth dough.
  • Granulated Sugar: Adds sweetness to the dough and helps with texture.
  • Brown Sugar: For moisture and a touch of caramel flavor.
  • Eggs: Binds the dough together and helps create a chewy cookie.
  • Vanilla Extract: Adds a lovely, warm flavor to the dough.
  • Baking Soda: Helps the cookies rise and gives them a lovely soft texture.
  • Oreo Cookies: The classic chocolate cookie that adds a delicious crunch to the dough.
  • M&M’s: A colorful and festive addition to make these cookies pop, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
  • Chocolate Chips (optional): For extra chocolatey goodness.

How to Make Valentin’s Day Oreo M&M’S Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  5. Gradually add the dry and wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Coarsely chop the Oreos into pieces and fold them into the dough along with the M&M’s and chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are soft.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Pro Tips:

  1. Don’t Overmix the Dough: Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined. Overmixing can make the cookies tough, and we want them to be soft and chewy!
  2. Chill the Dough: If the dough is too sticky or if you want to prevent the cookies from spreading too much, chill it in the fridge for 15-30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies maintain their shape.
  3. Crush Oreos Gently: When adding the Oreos, gently crush them into chunks rather than crumbling them into fine pieces. This ensures you get those delicious cookie bites in every bite of your swirl.
  4. Mix-in Extra M&M’s: For an extra pop of color and texture, gently press a few M&M’s on top of each cookie dough ball before baking. This gives them an extra festive touch!

Storage:

To keep your Valentine’s Day Oreo M&M Cookies fresh:

  • Room Temperature: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing: These cookies freeze well! Please place them in a freezer-safe container and store them for up to 3 months. You can also freeze the dough in cookie-sized balls and bake fresh cookies whenever you like. Just bake from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
  • Cookie Dough: Store the dough in the refrigerator for up to 2 days before baking. Alternatively, freeze the dough for up to 3 months.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper

  1. In a medium bowl, cream the butter and both sugars together. I did so using my spatula.

  1. Add in the vanilla and egg and mix everything is smooth and well incorporated.

  1. Add in the dry ingredients over the wet ingredient mixture, starting with the flour, corn starch, baking soda, and salt. Stir just until combined.

  1. Fold in the M&Ms and Oreo pieces. Then, using a large cookie scooper (¼ cups—4 tbsp), scoop out the cookie dough to create 10 equal cookies.

  1. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 13 minutes. Don't worry if they look underdone or gooey in the middle. That's what we want; they will continue to bake even after you pull them out of the oven to cool. Use a larger cookie cutter to swish the cookies around when they come out to make them perfectly round.
  1. Cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Can I use a different type of candy instead of M&M's?

Yes, you can replace M&M's with any candy you prefer. Some great alternatives include mini chocolate chips, Reese’s Pieces, or Skittles for a fruity twist!

Can I use double stuff Oreos?

It is strongly recommended that you DON'T use  Double Stuff Oreos. They will change the texture of the dough and the cookies might not bake correctly.

How do I make these cookies softer or crunchier?

For softer cookies, remove them from the oven when the edges are golden but the centers are still soft. If you prefer crunchier cookies, let them bake for a few extra minutes.

Why are my cookies not spreading?

If your cookies are not spreading, you might have added too much flour. Make sure to measure you flour properly.

My cookies are spreading too much

This recipe uses regular Oreos, so do not use double-stuffed Oreos. The extra filling will mix with the cookie dough and cause the cookies to spread too much.
